What are the procedures for a go around?

A

PF

  1. Go Around button
  2. Full Power (almost simultaneously with step 1)
  3. Raise nose to go around bars.
  4. As PNF for flap 20˚
  5. As soon as PNF says positive rate PF says gear up.
  6. Ask PNF to push FMS and then NAV button on the FGC. Without this the Vbars will not fly the missed approach

How is an RNAV approach set up.

A
  1. PERF INIT must be set up or the approach won’t work at all.
  2. Set up the approach in the FMS making sure that the FMS is set up in LNAV/VNAV or LPV (as needed) in the maintenance page.
  3. When the aircraft is cleared for the approach make sure the FGC is in FMS mode, then press NAV then VNAV on the flight director panel, then put the ASEL to 0 or airfield elevation altitude.
    DO NOT HIT THE “APP” BUTTON ON THE FGC.

How is a VOR approach set up?

A
  1. Put the approach in the FMS
  2. Put the VOR frequency in the radio
  3. Turn course knobs on both FGCs to the inbound course (blue needles).
  4. Set MDA in the ASEL (not 0 altitude)
  5. Set MDA on the altimeter bezels (for guidance)
  6. When cleared for the approach then press NAV and then VNAV on the flight director computer.
    DO NOT PRESS “APP” BUTTON!

How is a LOC approach set up?

A
  1. Set up the approach in the FMS.
  2. Put frequencies in the radios
  3. Turn course knobs on both FGCs to the inbound course (blue needles).
  4. Set MDA in the ASEL (not 0 altitude)
  5. Set MDA on the altimeter bezels (for guidance).
  6. When cleared for approach hit NAV, VNAV, ASEL to 0 (or field elevation)
  7. At FAF must hit the APP button and then VS because it is not legal to do an overlay passed the final approach fix.

How is a localizer back course set up?

A

Exactly the same way as a LOC front course. Must keep the blue needles on the front course but at FAF hit the B/C (back course) button on the flight director computer and then the VS button.

How is a hold entered in the FMS?

A

(Must verify this one)

  1. Go to NAV page
  2. Lower left hand select key “PATTERNS”
  3. Next page will have “HOLD” on upper left select key
  4. Then bring “HOLD” out of the scratch pad to whichever point you wish to hold at.
  5. Put in the direction of hold in the scratch pad with a forward slash, eg; /L or /R then bring this up to the LH select key #3.
  6. Activate the hold.

How is a hold exited on the FMS?

A
  1. Pressing “EXIT” will cause the FMS to leave the hold and proceed directly to the holding fix.
  2. Press “DIR” and choose the waypoint desired and the FMS will leave the hold
  3. Press the “ARRIVAL” button on the bottom RH side and then choose Vectors to final. This will erase all waypoints on an approach before the FAF.
