What are language barriers?

A

if English is not the service user’s first language, or have a visual / hearing impairment and there is no signer available to support communication etc.

A

such as the cost and difficulty in providing care for children or other dependants while the service user attends a care setting or potentially a loss of wages while attending an appointment

What are examples of scarce resources? (not enough resources)

A

this could be long waiting times for a particular appointment, restricted opening hours of a service or clinic forcing the client to have to take time off work

A

service users may feel unable to communicate or may be discriminated against because of stereotypes associated within the community

A
  • many service users have to rely on public transport
  • the cost of transport may be an issue as financial help is not always available (LINKS TO FINANCIAL BARRIER)
