What is Banquo’s key moment in Act1, scene 3 ?
Wins a battle with Macbeth and Gets his prophecies from the witches:
“Worthy gentleman” - has the captain’s respect for winning the battle
“Lesser than Macbeth, and greater”
“Not so happy, yet much happier”
“Thou shall get kinds thought thou be none” - his son’s are going to be kings
What is Banquo’s key moment in Act2, Scence1 ?
Meets Macbeth before he is going to commit regicide and he gets suspicious :
“Who’s there?”
“A friend”
It is dramatic irony since us as the audience know he is not a true friend to Banquo because he is going to kill his king
What is a key Banquo moment in Act 2 , Scene 3 ?
He is horrified at the news of Duncan’s murder:
“Too cruel, anywhere Dear Duff, I prithee contradict thyself” - he is mortified and starts pledging an allegiance since he was maybe suspicious of macbeth yet want to let the great chain of beings know he is not guilty and he is still loyal to his country
What is a key Banquo moment in Act 3 , Scene 3 ?
Goes riding with fleance and Murders kill him:
“Fly, good Fleance
, fly, fly, fly!” - Tells fleance to run to avenge him - “The son fled”
What is Banquo’s Key moment in Act 3, scene 4 ?
Returns as a ghost with all the injuries from his murder:
“Twenty trenched gashes to the head”
“gory locks”
“they bones are marrow less” “Thy blood is cold”
“The tables full”
“His throat cut”
“Safe in a ditch he bides”
When is Banquo shown to be loyal to Duncan ?
When he tells Macbeth he is going to follow natures course and not act on his free will :
“I shall be connsuelled”
How is Banquo shown to be trustworthy and noble ?
At the start of the play Macbeth refer’s to Banquo as his “noble parter”
