Q

Pavlov - Classical Conditioning

A
  • Lab experiment with dogs
  • Investigated if the salivary reflex can be trained to react to the bell if the dog repeatedly hears it while being fed
  • Conclusion - behaviour is learned from direct experience - classical conditioning

Q

Skinner - Operant conditioning

A
  • Lab experiment with rats
  • Press lever for food - positive reinforcement (increase action)
  • Press lever to stop shocks - negative reinforcement (increase action)
  • Press lever to receive shock - punishment (extinguish action)
  • Conclusion: behaviour learned by classical conditioning but changed by operant conditioning
