Bias for action Flashcards

Q

Give me an example of a calculated risk that you have taken where speed was critical.

A

I took a calculated risk by opting out of a standard procedure due to time due to constraints.
At caesars, we have a sign shop we need to request all signage through. We need to request it at least two weeks in advance for the team to reformat, update any graphics, and be able to print the requested number of prints.
One program shipment was running late so the buyers had to create a campaign quickly to take place of the initial program campaign. This new interim program required signage immediately, which is supposed to go through the company sign shop. And due to the sign shop being backed up, signage turnaround time had gone up to 3 weeks.
knowing how urgent this campaign was, I taught myself photoshop and illustrator to create the signage for this marketing campaign and made an account with a local sign shop to have the prints expedited.
I was able to deliver the signage

Q

Tell me about a time when you work against tight deadlines and didn’t have time to consider all options before making a decision.

A

In a time-sensitive situation, our regular sign shop at Caesars was backed up, and the signage turnaround time had increased to 3 weeks. A program shipment delay required an urgent campaign, and with the standard process not feasible, I had to act quickly. Recognizing the urgency, I taught myself Photoshop and Illustrator, collaborated with a local sign shop, and successfully launched the campaign. While it incurred additional costs, the expedited decision ensured the timely execution of the marketing initiative, and my manager was supportive of the choice given the circumstances

But at that moment, I believe it was the best option for me to deliver quickly.

Describe a situation where you made an important business decision without consulting your manager.

A

I made an important business decision without consulting my manager when I opted out of a standard procedure due to time due to constraints.

It did cost extra due to printing the signage outside of our own sign shop, but given the urgency, my manager understood and was supportive of my decision.

Q

Tell me about a time when you had to gather information and respond immediately to a situation.

A

I had to gather information and respond to an unplanned marketing campaign.

Or Feel good surf club. Not enough sign ups so two weeks prior, we shifted the event to be a beach hangout as opposed to the surf competition

Q

Give me an example of when you had to make an important decision and had to decide between moving forward or gathering more information.

A

I made an important decision of moving forward over gathering more information when I had to create signage for an unplanned marketing campaign.
At caesars, we have a sign shop we need to request all signage through. We need to request it at least two weeks in advance for the team to reformat, update any graphics, and be able to print the requested number of prints.

knowing how urgent this campaign was, instead of trying to rush the sign shop or try to negotiate with the marketing team to push back the campaign, I taught myself photoshop and illustrator to create the signage for this marketing campaign and made an account with a local sign shop to have the prints expedited.
I was able to deliver the signage and successfully launch the campaign.
It did cost extra due to printing the signage outside of our own sign shop, but given the urgency, my manager understood and was supportive of my decision.

Q

Tell me about a time when you saw an issue that would impact your team and took proactive approach to solve it.

A

I saw an issue with product flow in my stores that impacted our team so I took a proactive approach to create an exit strategy for the store team.

Created a global sign program
Each property and each store had outdated sign holders and different hardware for signage.
Made a global sign program where all signage and dimension per respective stores were saved

Q

Tell me about a time when you felt your team was not moving to action quickly enough.

A

Graphics team was backed up. We had an urgent marketing campaign and we had no time to fill out the form
So to dodge the back and forth, I printed my own signage.

Q

Tell me about a time when you were able to remove a serious roadblock/ barrier preventing your team from making progress.

A

I was able to remove a serious barrier in my team by implementing a merchandising SOP.
At caesars, capacity was a huge issue with no set direction for which programs to live where in the store.
I implemented a deck to keep track of what programs to live where on a store map I had produced on CAD so the buyers, store team, and visual can keep track of the progress of each program. After some time, a program is not making any momentum, we have a discussion of where it can go either sale or moved to another store so that we are consistently moving product and it isn’t staying stagnant. We really needed to create an exit strategy. Unsold merchandise just piled up in backstock.
This kept the buyers accountable for unsold merchandise and the store team to follow merchandising guidelines on where product to move.
