4
Q

Why is ATP important

A

. It is important because the phosphate groups are high-energy bonds that cells can use.

16
Q

Distinguish between a plant and animal cell.

A

A plant cell has a cell wall while animal cells don’t.

17
Q

Is a function of a cell wall found in animal or plant cells.

A

Protects, supports, and shapes plant cell. Is found only on plant cells.

18
Q

What is the difference between weather and climate?

A

Weather is the short term changes in clouds, precipitation, etc. While climate is the averages in clouds, precipitation, etc. in a year.

19
Q

What is the greenhouse effect?

A

greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere.

20
Q

What is climate change?

A

Changes in temperature, winds, patterns, etc.

21
Q

How does the tilt of the Earth affect seasons?

A

The tilt of the Earth causes seasons.

22
Q

How does latitude and the curvature of the Earth affect heating?

A

The curvature of the Earth results in uneven heating.

23
Q

What causes wind AND the global wind patterns around earth?

A

The uneven heating in the Earth’s atmosphere.

24
Q

How does wind affect the global surface currents?

A

It causes ocean surface currents. And affects weather and climate on coastal areas.

25
How is the climate different on the upwind/windward/ocean-side vs. the downwind/leaward/desert side of a mountain? (Rain-shadow effect)
Because the upwind side causes more moisture in the air and more rains in that side. Which in result it wont rain on the other side because it already did.
26
What is ecology?
The study of relationships and interactions between living things.
27
How do biotic and abiotic factors differ?
Abiotic is the non-living factors in an environment, while biotic factors are the living factors.
28
Photosynthesis vs. chemosynthesis -
Photosynthesis produces sugars by capturing light energy from the sun. While chemosynthesis makes carbohydrates through chemical energy.
29
How important is sunlight?
Very important, it is the most common source of energy and is needed for photosynthesis in plants.
30
Herbivores vs. carnivores
consume plants, leaves, and fruits. While carnivores consume other animals.
31
Detritivores
grind detritus into smaller pieces.
32
Omnivores
eat both plants and animals.
33
Decomposer
feed by chemically breaking down organic matter; this produces detritus.
34
Scavengers
eat dead animal carcasses.
