How many types of cells are there and what are they?
- Eukaryotic cells and Prokaryotic cells.
Which cell does bacteria fall under?
Prokaryotic cells.
Which cell do plants & animals fall under?
Eukaryotic cells.
What must all cells have? (4)
Cell Membrane
Genetic material (DNA/RNA)
Cytoplasm
Ribosomes
Where can DNA & RNA be found?
in the nucleolus
How many membranes around the mitochondria?
- (Double membrane)
Which part of the cells are ribosomes producing?
Nucleolus.
Explain RER.
Rough endoplasmic reticulum. RER - make and transport protein to golgi body.
Explain SER.
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum.
SER - making and transporting lipid (fat) within the cell
Explain endoplasmic reticulum.
Endoplasmic Reticulum - The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) plays a key role in producing, processing, and transporting proteins and lipids within the cell.
Why cant lysosome be present in plant cells?
Because plants have a cell well and cell membrane so debris are able to make an exit.
In which cell is lysosome present?
Animal cells.
Where does RER release it’s protein?
Vesicles.
Define Prokaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic cells are simple, small cells that do not have a nucleus. Their genetic material is not enclosed in a membrane but instead floats freely in the cell.
Define Eukaryotic cells.
Eukaryotic cells are advanced cells that have a nucleus that holds their DNA, surrounded by a membrane. They also have organelles like mitochondria for energy production.
