Q

Describe the slow block

A

Calcium ions are released by ovums ER into its cytoplasm.
Cortical granules located under ovum membrane spill enzymes called zonal inhibitory proteins into extracellular spaces
Enzymes attract water and deters sperm
Enzymes also destroy sperm receptors
