Bone and Cartilage Flashcards
(26 cards)
Membrane of cartilage is called ?
Pericondrium
It also contain blood vessels
Name all 3 types of cartilage ?
1.Hylaine
2.Fibro
3.Elastic
Which is the hardest cartilage
Fibro
Which cartilage doesn’t contain fibers/protein
Hylaine
Does cartilage contain Blood vessels
No
How does Cartilage gets nutrition without blood vessels?
It’s membrane called pericondrium contains blood vessel and by diffusion it reaches to cartilage.
Two kind of bones in skeleton
Axial and Appendicular
Bone+Muscle sytem is called?
Musculoskeletal system
Endoskeleton is comprise of?
Bone +Cartilage
Amount of water present in bone?
10-20%
Amount of water present in cartilage
80%
Bone is mainly composed of?
Collagen protein
It gives strength to muscle and work in Calcium deposition.
Collagen protein is which protein?
fibrous(structural )
Number of Bones in adult and in Infant
206 &300
Which Bone marrow forms blood cells?
Red bone marrow
How many regions of bones are there and name all..
1.Epiphysis
2.Metaphysis
3.Diaphysis
These are just names of long bone area
Epiphysis is present at end/terminal of bone.
Di physis is in middle btw two metaphysis.
Metaphysis btw epiphysis and diphysis.
Which region contains red bone marrow?
Epiphysis
How much % RBC are produced by red bone marrow?
20%
These red bone marrow are almost pressent in epiphysis so here 20% blood
General layer of bone is called?
Periosteum
How many bones are in Axial?
80
Axial means Central axis. So acial bones are pressent at centeral axis o
How many bones are in Appendicular?
126
Categories of bone in axial and number of bones in them??
1.Head(28)
2.Hyoid(01)
3.Sternum(01)
4.Ribs(24)
5.Vertebral column(26)
Classify Head completely ?
1.Skull(22)———–1.Cranium(08)
(28)Head-| 2.Facial(14)
2.Earloobe(06)
Why infants have more bones then adult.
bcz these vacant bones in infant are to fuse and become long bone and due to this reason number of bones are less in adult.
