A

Chromosomes are thread like structure present in cell nucleus in condensed form of chromatin network

Chromosome are only present during cell division

Q

chromosome structure

A
  • Centromere- a round strucutre
  • centromere is consist of kinetochore
  • there are chromatids attached to centromere
  • there are 2 arms at each chromatids

Q

types of chromosome on the basis of centromere

A
  1. Metacentric=when all chromatid arms are equal
  2. Sub-metacentric=when one arms are equal and other one little short
  3. Acrocentric= just little chromatid at one side and full at other
  4. Telocentric= no chromatid on one side

6
Q

Why there are 4 types of chromsome on th basis of centromere

A

because centromere do change its position and due to this chromatids remain unequal.

Q

What are nucleotides

A

Nucleotides are combination of nitrogenious base and phosphate group to Deoxyribose Sugar

* Deoxy ribose is pentose sugar

Nitrogenous base is attached to C1 while Phosphate to C2

Q

How are two nucleotides connected to eachother?

A

Nucleotides are connected to eachother through phospho-di-ester bond. C5 attach phospahte create ester bond and other nucleotide make bond to phospate of C5 and di ester is created
