brain structure and aggression Flashcards

supporting case studies :)
there are various case studies that indicate damage to a persons brain structure can result in increased aggressive behaviour which further increases the plausibility of brain structure being linked with aggression, an example of this is the case of phineas gage who was an ordinary kind man before suffering his injury, however once he suffered damage to the pre frontal cortex he became aggressive and irresponsible. T/F this supports the idea that brain structure is linked with aggression
wong et al
considering brain structure as a factor of human aggression can help to inform the way violent criminals are perceived by the criminal justice system especially by considering a persons pre disposition to violence. Wong et al conducted MRI scans on 19 violent male criminals and found the volume of their amygdala to be smaller when compared the the control group. T/F supporting brain structure as a factor involved in violent offending
