Why would to reccomend a approved inspector over local authority building control?
- better response times and better resourced/ level of care
- more flexible with tradtional constrution
with local building control what are the two procedual options?
Building notice and full plans check.
What is the diiferne between a building notice and full plans check?
A building notice is where you tell the local building control you plan to start work and they will come and inspect. A plan check will mean the building control officer checks the plans before construction starts and feedbacks whether they are compliant.
When would you use a building notice?
Building control
Simple projects so long as it is not a workplace, quick start needed
When would you use a full plans check?
Building control
Any building project where you want addtional input to check the plans comply typically more complex projects
What works don’t need a building control check?
Works undertaken by a registered ‘compent person’ who can self certify such as gas, eletrcial or window installtions
