Calcium Channel Blocker Toxicity Flashcards
(6 cards)
1
Q
Pathphysiology of Calcium Channel blockers
A
- CCB bind antagonistically to Voltage-gated calcium channels
- inihibits calcium influx during phase 2 of cardiac cycle
- Reduces Chronotropy, inotropy, dromotropy
- Vasodilation
- Impair insulin release
- Bradycardia, Hypotension, heart blocks, Hyperglycaemia
- Cardiogenic shock
- MODS
- Death
2
Q
What is the difference between Dihydropyridines and Non-dihydropyridines
A
Dihydropyridines - Act on Vascular smooth muscle
Non-dihydropyridines - Act on cardiac and vascular smooth muscle
