cancer cells Flashcards
(15 cards)
what is cancer?
is when abnormal cells divide in an uncontrolled way
it starts when gene changes make one cell or a few cell begin to grow and multiply too much. This cause a growth called tumor.
how cancer starts?
it starts with changes in one cell or a small group of cell
what is cancer cell?
are cells that have undergone genetic mutations leading to uncontrolled growth and division.
its is a disease
cancer cell
two types of genetics
pro-oncogenes
tumor suppressor genes
are a group of genes that cause normal cells to become cancerous when they are mutated
late symptoms
pro-oncogenes
is a gene that regulates a cell during cell division and replication. If the cell grows uncontrollably, it will result in cancer.
tumor suppressor genes
there is an increase in the number of cells in an organ or tissue that appear normal under a microscope.
passive and active
hyperplasia
the cells look abnormal under a microscope but are not cancer.
builds up in other cells
dysplasia
is a type of cancer that starts in cells that make up the skin or the tissue lining organs, such as the liver or kidneys.
