Cardiovascular System (31 Question) Flashcards
(20 cards)
Heart Anatomy & Blood Flow
Right atrium (RA) — Right ventricle (RV) — Lungs (Pulmonary artery, deoxygenated) — Left atrium (LA) — Left ventricle (LV) — Body ( aorta, Oxygenated).
Valves:
Tricuspid between ( RA — RV).
Pulmonary between ( RV— Lungs).
Mitral between ( Bicuspid) ( LA— LV).
Aortic between ( LV— Aorta).
SA Node =
Pacemaker ( 60-100 bpm).
AV Node =
Delays impulse ( 40-60 bpm).
QRS Complex on ECG =
Ventricular depolarization ( contraction).
T wave =
Ventricular repolarization.
Arteries =
Carry oxygenated blood (Except pulmonary artery).
Veins =
Carry deoxygenated blood ( except pulmonary vein).
Capillaries =
Site of gas/nutrient exchange.
BP =
Systolic/Diastolic (normal ~120/80 mmHg).
Baroreceptors
in aorta & carotid detect BP changes.
Sympathetic nervous system =
Increases Heart Rate & Blood pressure.
Parasympathetic nervous system =
Decreases HR & BP.
Vasodilation =
Decreases BP
Vasoconstriction
Increases BP.
ADH
Increases BP by retaining water.
Ischemia =
Low blood flow to tissues.
Angina =
Chest pain from reduced heart oxygen.
Myocardial infarction ( heart attack) =
Blocked coronary artery.
