Cell and Neurons<3 Flashcards
(13 cards)
Function of the Nucleus
Contains the DNA and is responsible for sending out RNA to the RIbsomes
Function of the Ribosome
Once the RNA (Acid Instructions) makes it to the Ribosome it synthesizes protine
Function of the Rough Endoplasmic recticulum
Makes more complex protines (synthesizes protine)
Function of the Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum
Makes lipids and hormones (synthesizes protine)
Function of the Golgi Apperatus
Sorts the protines sent in by vesicles
Functions of the Mitocondria
Makes molecules to make adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
Function of the Cytoplasm
Full of Cytoskeleton to allow movement within the cell membrane
Function of the Lyosomes
Breaks down waste and other componets in the cell
Function of the Dendrites
Branches off of the neuron where signals are recived
Function of the Axon
A fiber that carries the signal from one cell to another
Function of the Synapse
The ends of the neuron where communication between cells takes place
Function of the Myelin
A sheeth of protine/fat that protects the axon
What is a action potential
A signal from one neuron to release nurotransmitters
