cell meditated response Flashcards
(5 cards)
1
Q
what types of lymphocytes are used in cell meditated immune response
A
t-lymphocytes
2
Q
what are the 3 other cells involved in the cell meditated response and what do they do
A
- t helper cells - bind to the APC in order to to allow mitosis
- memory cells - produce long term immunity for a specific pathogen
- cytotoxin cells - destroy foreign cells by producing a protein called perforin which makes holes on the surface of the cell
3
Q
describe the process of a cell meditated response
A
- pathogen is engulfed by a phagocyte forming it into a APC as they gain the pathogens antigens
- a t helper cell with receptors compimentary to the antigens will then bind to the APC
- this produces a response and so more t helper cells are activated in order to divide by mitosis and produce clones
4
Q
why do we need cloned t cells
A
- stimulate phagocytosis
- stimulate the production of b cells
- produce memory cells
- produce cytotoxins
5
Q
where do b cells mature and where are they produced
A
produced in the bone marrow and mature in the thymus gland
