A

called by pope paul III in 1545. it clarified catholic teaching and strengthened the seperation between catholicism and protestantism. it revitalized the lives of the priests (MAJOR REFORM), reaffirmed celibacy for priests and notified them if they were not celibate they would lose their positions. they were to wear distinctive garb and seminaries were to be instituted for the education and training of them. it reinstated and clarified longstanding catholic teachings on all major doctrines. a catechism: Catechism of the council of trent, stated fundamental beliefs (1566) which was official until 1992 with the catechism of the catholic church. roman missile published
