Describe the history of Birmingham

A

From the 16th century Bham from a market-oriented town to an industrial centre.
-Industries such as cutlery, weapon, guns were drawn to Bham due to its central location, good transport links and natural resources.
-By the 18th century Bham was the main European producer of Buckles, buttons, jewellery - to this day over 40% of all the Uk’s handmade jewellry is from Bham.
-Rapid econ growth led to population growth - Back to Back housing was a response but conditions worsened as pop densit increased.
-Start of 20th century electrical engineering and car manufacturing became dominant industries. - grew after WWII.
