Chapter 10 Flashcards
(7 cards)
Bias
a statistical problem that occurs when the expected value of the parameter estimate that we obtain from a sample will not equal to the true population parameter
Dyatic Data
data that reflect the characteristics of pairs of spatial units and/or the relationships between them
omitted variable bias
the specific type of bias that results from the failure to include a variable that belongs in our regression model
perfect multicollinearity
when there is an exact relationship between any two or more of a regression’s independent variables
standardized coefficients
regression coefficients such as the rise over run interpretation is expressed in standard deviation units of each variable
substantive significance
a judgement call on whether or not a statistically significant relationship is “large” or “small” in terms of their real world impact
unstandardized coefficients
regression coefficients such that the rise-over-run is expressed in the original metric of each variable
