A
For agents not known to cause disease in immunocompetent adults and have prophylactic treatment available.

What’s BSL2 suitable for?
A
For work involving agents that cause moderate hazards to personnel and the environment. Agents that are associated with human diseases not transmitted by air and have treatment available.

What’s BSL3 suitable for?
A
For clinical, diagnostic and teaching facilities where work is performed with agents that may cause serious or lethal disease through inhalation. Treatment may or may not exist.

What’s BSL4 suitable for?
A
Dangerous agents that are life threatening and transmitted by aerosol. No treatment is available.
