The one-word stage

A

12-18 months, single terms for everyday objects. Also holophrastic words, that is one word for a phrase.

The two word stage

A

18-20 months. Vocabulary beyond 50 words. Understands 5 times more than it can say. Baby chair can mean different things depending on the context.

Overgeneralization

A

Applies rules for plural etc were it should not be. Foot – foots. Irregular forms are not learnt yet.

Overextension

A

Overextending the meaning of words. All animals are dogs. All round things are ball. In terms of hyponymy the middle level is used. Animal-dog-poodle, dog is used.
