Abrasion
Process of scraping away from a surface, such as skin or teeth, by friction. An abrasion may be the result of trauma, such as a “skinned knee” or from therapy, such as dermabrasion of the skin for removal of scar tissue. It can also occur from the wearing-down of a tooth from mastication (chewing).
