Instructors spend more time disseminating knowledge and molding student behaviors. Coaches recruit, scout, review film, schedule and budget.

Develop character, honor, active role in substance abuse prevention, avoid use of alcohol and tobacco in athletes presence. Promote entire interscholastic program. Be knowledgable of rules, enhance sportsmanship, respect officials, be cordial, don’t exert pressure on faculty, and practice legal scouting.

Professional Certification and Continuing Education
Corporate, commercial and community organizations require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or a health and fitness related discipline. Most employers require certification from a nationally recognized organization. Examples are the American College of Sports Medicine(ACSM) and the American Council on Exercise(ACE). Once hired you need to keep seeking information and developing new skills to keep up to date.
