Chapter 3 Flashcards

1
Q

What are cells mean to the organisms?

A

Cell is the structural and functional unit of all living organisms

🍎 cells are responsible for carrying out processes that sustain life. Nonliving things lack the characteristics of life, including similar structure, and ability to carry out metabolic functions.

Q

What are the four major differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells?

A

First the location of their DNA DNA is free floating in the prokaryotic and also it’s circular in the eukaryotic cells. DNA is in a nucleus and its linear shape.

The presence of membrane bound organelles , in the prokaryotic cells, they lack the membrane, the bound organelles, but a nucleic cells. They have the membrane that bound organelles.

The third difference is size. The Bacardi cells are very small just to know that their size is 0.1 to 5.0 um, yeah but the eukaryotic cells are bigger. Their size is from 10 to 100 micro meters.

The fourth difference is the definition of cytoplasm for bronchitis cells. It is everything inside the cell membrane for the eukaryotic cells. It’s the area between the nucleus and Blaz membrane.

🦠🧪 another differences that prokaryotic cells reproduce both sexual and asexually, but eukaryotic cells mostly reproduce, sexually.

Another thing that prokaryotic cells include single, haploid(n) chromosome, but and can excel they include paired diploid chromosomes (2n)

Nucleus is absent in prokaryotic cell, but in eukaryotic cell nucleus is present

Send division in prokaryotic cells is by binary fission
In eukaryotic cells, it is by mitosis

Prokaryotic cells are unicellular, but eukaryotic cells can be unicellular or multicellular
