How are dissacharides formed?
They are formed by joining pairs of monosacharrides by dehydration reaction.
How are polysaccharides formed ?
A long chain of monosaccharides linked by glycosidic bonds
What are lipids ?
A diverse group of compounds that are non polar
Why are lipids important ?
they provide insulation from the environment for plants and animals
What is the difference between saturated and unsaturated fatty acids ?
Unsaturated fatty acids DO NOT contain double bonds.
Saturated fatty acids contain double bonds
Which two carbon molecules form a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid ?
Carbon-carbon s
How many types of protein structures are there ?
- Primary
- Secondary
- Tertiary
- Quaternary
What are the two main types of nuclei acids ?
DNA & RNA
What is the difference between DNA and RNA ?
RNA is single helix , DNA is double helix
