What is the Census
A regular procedure used by teh governement to systmeatically count and collect information about EVERYONE in the population
What does the Census tell us?
Provides data on information about # of ppl in pop, their age, sex, where they live, family structure, education, employment
what does Civil Registration systems refer to?
Refers to continuoius, compulsory recording of the occurence of births and deaths within a populaiton.
Civil registration information it tells us, & of who?
The registration of these events is a legal requirement & results in birth & death certificates, Medical practitioner completes cerrtificate & date & cause of detah.
What are diesease regisries? Most widely & routinely one used?
Cancer is sometimes the only diesease grouo which is good morbiditiy data are widely and routinely availible. cancer is good becuase it is a clear cut diagnosis.
Administartive healthcare records include what?
Physician billing
Hospital records
Prescription drugs paid for by the government
Health surveys, who run them, what are they
These are based on representative samples rather than who countries, typically conducted by Sats Can, can include self-report dats (questionaires), & physical measures (blood samples, blood pressure)
Big Data. What is it? eg.
Big data - the mass of digitization of information across a range of contexts, like smartphone sensors, internet searches. eg. Google trends has been used to to real-time monitoring of infectious disease outbreaks. GPS smartphones of PA
