The exchange of thoughts or messages, verbally and non verbally, through signals or writing.
Communication
The bearing of one who commands or influences others which encompasses professional appearance, demeanor, poise, and attitude.
Command presence
A permanent, verbal, or written record of a person’s account of an incident or occurrence that may or may not be made under oath.
Statement
Actions a person takes to deprive another individual or group of a right because of prejudice involving color, national origin, race, religion, or sex.
Discrimination
A notion, statement, or belief about a person, group, or event that may not be factual.
Assumption
A combination of letters and numbers.
Alphanumeric
A promise to tell the truth regarding an incident or occurrence.
Oath
The brief statements made during an interview which indicate that the officer hears what the person is saying and is inclined to hear more.
Minimal encouragers
The person who reports the crime or alleges that a crime has been committed.
Complainant
The person who sends a message to a receiver.
Sender
Procedures for properly constructing and transmitting messages.
Radio protocol
The pre-judging of people who are different from an individual.
Prejudice
A group of words that lacks a subject or verb or fails to express a complete thought.
Sentence fragment
The paragraphs in a police report containing specific details and pertinent information about an incident and the elements of the crime.
Narrative
A solemn and formal declaration or assertion in place of an oath.
Affirmation
A computer system that provides information about criminal incidents, people, vehicle, and property.
FCIC/NCIC
A person who receives a message.
Receiver
An awareness of one’s inner nature, feelings, abilities, and limitations.
Self knowledge
The people and locations comprising the neighborhoods, institutional settings, and workplaces in which an officer lives or works.
Community
Words that are often confusing, such as words that sound the same but are spelled differently (there/their/they’re) or words that sound similar but have different meanings.
Improper or misused words
Informal, nonstandard words often characterized by regional or specific group usage.
Slang
Behavior that involves showing consideration, respect, and cooperation when interacting with others.
Courtesy
A continual internal monologue in which an individual narrates events that are occurring.
Self talk
An exact match in a database.
