Name four types of tissues and their main functions
Epithelial- sheets of cells that line and cover surfaces and body cavities.
Connective- support softer part of the bodies organs.
Muscle- cells specialized to shorten or contract
Nervous- generating and transmitting electrical impulses
Describe some advantages and disadvantages of multicellularity.
Advantage is greater size and the ability to seek out I maintain an environment conducive to life.
Describe functions of the three types of cell junctions
Tight- seals plasma so tightly nothing can pass.
Adhesion- allow some movement for stretching and bending.
Gap- permit movement of ions or water
Distinguish the difference between Organ and organ system
An organ has several tissues that join together to perform a function. An organ system is multiple organs in a group that share a bond function for survival.
Define interstitial fluid.
Fluid that surrounds a nourishes single celled organisms
