Positive Impacts of Sponsorship
-Helps sponsor make more money
-Sport increases revenue so can invest in new facilities, technology
-Players and officials increased wage so can work full time improving performance
-Fans get to watch better performances and experience better facilities
Negative Impacts of Sponsorship
-Usually only available to elite
-Bad performances or bad reputation could lose performer sponsorship deal and damage sponsorship company
-Need to attend special events
-Can’t use any other companies products or trouble
-Sponsor could influence team
-Adverts at half time boring for spectators

-Increased Awareness of Sport
-Media coverage creates role models inspiring others to play
-Fans get to watch from home saving money
-Media analysis educates spectators
Negatives of Media
-Media could hound players and private lives all over news
-Change number of matches played which could increase injuries or change rules
-Change kick off times meaning less fans can make the match which reduces atmosphere in the stadium and loss of ticket sales
-Analysis of refereeing decisions puts pressure on refs
Positive impacts of Technology
-Help make sport more fair reducing frustration from players and spectators
-Help officials make correct decision so reduces pressure and may increase respect
Sponsors use break in play to advertise products.
Negative Impacts of Technology
-Expensive to install
-Undermine refs authority so players contest every decision
-Video replays take a long time to check. Boring for spectators and disrupts flow of play

Following unwritten rules and conventions of sport. E.g. shaking hands after game of football
Sportsmanship
Playing within the rules, upholding the spirit of the game and using sports etiquette
Gamesmanship
Gaining an advantage by using tactics that push the rules without breaking them. E.g. time wasting in football

Unwritten agreement between competitors to comply with the rules and do their best

Effects of Beta Blockers
Positive:
-Reduce heart rate,muscle tension,blood pressure and effect of adrenaline to improve fine motor skills.Good for archery.
Negative:
-Cause nausea,cramp,weakness and heart failure
- Banned in sport so if caught, banned. Sometimes prescribed
Effects of Diuretics
-Increase amount you urinate causing weight loss. Beneficial for boxing to meet weight division
-Cause cramp, dehydration, loss of salts, muscle weakness, heart damage
Effects of Narcotic Analgesics
-Kill pain so injuries dont affect performance.
-Addictive with unpleasant withdrawal symptoms
-Can cause overtraining
-Could cause constipation or low blood pressure
Effects of Stimulants
-Affect CNS and improve reaction time
-Increase physical alertness so good for baseball
-High blood pressure, heart problems and stokes
-Addictive
Effects of Anabolic Agents
-Mimic male sex hormone testosterone
which increases bone and muscle growth to make you stronger
-Aids faster recovery. Usually used by sprinters.
-Cause high blood pressure, heart disease and infertility. Could cause cancer
-Women may grow facial and body hair
