Chapter 6.2 Flashcards
(11 cards)
What is Operant Conditioning
Learning controlled by the consequences of the organisms behaviour
What is the 3 differences between Classical and Operant
- Classical - organisms responce is elicited
- Operant - organisms response is emitted
- Classical - organisms reward is independent of what it does
- Operant - organisms reward is dependant on what it does
- Classical is dependant on the Autonomic Nervous System
- Operant is dependant on Voluntary Motor Behaviour
What is The Law of Effect
If a stimulus is followed by a behaviour results in a reward, the stimulus is likely to be seen as good in the future
Who founded the Law of Effect
E L. Thorndike
What is a Skinner box
A box made by B F Skinner that allowed for long periods of conditioning as it was recorded while unsupervised
3 Concepts of Skinnerian Psychology
- Reinforcement (Reward)
- Punishment
- Discriminative Stimulus
What is Discriminative Stimulus
Any stimulus that signals the presence of reinforcement
What are the 6 Schedules of Reinforcement
- Continus Reinforcement
- Partial Reinforcement
- Fixed interval
-Variable Ratio Reinforcement
- Fixed Ratio Reinforcement
- Variable Interval Reinforcement
Successive Approximations
Reinforcing/Rewarding small steps of behaviour
