What is an alkaline
It is a substance that dissolves in water to give it a pH higher that 7
Name some common alkalines

What is an indicator
A substance that is one colour in an acid and another colour in an alkaline
Name a natural indicator

What is a pH scale
A pH scale is a number scale that shows how acidic or alkaline is
What is a solution with a pH of 7
Neutral
What is a solution with a pH less that 7
Acidic
What is a solution with a pH more than 7
Alkaline
What is more accurate a pH scale or a pH meter
A pH meter
What is a base
An insoluble metal oxide or hydroxide
Is an alkali a soluble base
Yes
What happens when a base reacts with an acid
It neutralises
How is salt made
In a neutralisation reaction
