Why did Mendeleev’s periodic table become more widely accepted than previous versions?
A
Mendeleev had predicted properties of missing elements. Elements were discovered which filled the gaps made by Mendeleev and the properties of the elements matched his predictions.

Why must the positive electrode be continually replaced?
A
The electrode reacts with oxygen and the electrode is carbon so carbon dioxide is produced.

A
To ensure that a chemical reaction is complete and the reactants are all used up.
