A

Commemorates the incarnation of Jesus Christ
Appreciate God’s kindness by gifting us with Jesus
To remember the story of Jesus
The light in Christmas reflects the benevolence from God (light) coming to the world (darkness represents sin)
The nativity scenes reflect the idea that Jesus was born into poverty reminding us that material wealth will not help us to achieve salvation
Midnight mass reflects the holiness of the night which Jesus was born and the joy that Christians feel at Jesus’ birth

Palm Sunday: Palms were laid for Jesus to represent the idea of a red carpet put out for a king identifying Jesus to be the son of God and the King of the Jews Christians are given palm crosses at church to take home to keep until the start of Lent next year Maundy Thursday: Reminds Christians of the teachings of the Last Supper and the importance of keep faith Christians go to churches to celebrate the teachings of the Last Supper Good Friday: Christians follow someone carrying a heavy cross through town and erect it in town square to remind all the message of Good Friday People often eat fish rather than red meat as to not dwell on the blood of Jesus Christians hold the Easter Vigil, the service of Light, the Liturgy of the Word, the Liturgy of Initiation, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist

The Alpha Course: Started in 1977 by a Church of England curate, Reverend Charles Marnham Introduces people into Christianity through a series of talks and discussions These sessions are held in homes, workplaces, universities, prisons and churches Usually a meal shared together as this is what Alpha believes brings people together Christ for all Nations: Holds evangelistic meetings around the world, but mainly in Africa Led by evangelists Richard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda Often meetings are large open-air rallies that have up to 1.6 million people in attendance Claims that 74 million people have filled in decision cards to follow Christ at their meetings

Emergency aid: Provides immediate response generally to a disaster Food and water are given to prevent dehydration, starvation and water-borne diseases Medical kits are given to help the sick and injured Teams, nurses, tents, blankets and temporary shelter are given (and sometimes engineers if needed) Long-term aid: Combats the root cause of the problem to make communities self-sufficient Educational prpgrammes, medical and health training

Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW): Human rights organisation that campaigns for religious freedom for all. They raise awareness of religious persecution, try to influence governments whose policies or actions affect the oppressed, and help the oppressed speak up for themselves more effectively Christian Aid: Wants to end poverty. Provides mosquito nets for children in Myanmar (Believe in "Love thy neighbour as thyself") CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development): Gives aid in natural disasters and creates risk-reduction strategies (e.g. provided a village in Zambia with 2 solar-powered water pumps to prevent water diseases and to grow more crops and food) Tearfund: Project in Ethiopia - Supports self-help groups and counselling for poor families All of these help victims of war
