circulatory system Flashcards
(24 cards)
is the inferior vena cava pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is the function?
the vena cava is systemic circulation and its function is to collect blood from veins and returns the blood to the right atrium of the heart
is the superior vena cava pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is the function?
superior vena cava is systemic circulation, it retrieves blood from the upper body
is the right atrium pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
right atrium is systemic circulation. deoxygenated blood enters the heart through the veins before being pumped into the right ventricle
is the left atrium pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
left atrium is pulmonary circulation and receives blood from the lungs and pumps into the left ventricle
is the tricuspid valve pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function
tricuspid valve is systemic circulation. It has three flaps that separate to allow blood to pass and connect to block blood from going backwards
is the left ventricle pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
left ventricle is systemic circulation. it forces blood out of the heart into the arteries.
is the right ventricle pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
right ventricle is pulmonary circulation. it pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs where gas exchange occurs.
is the pulmonary valve pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
pulmonary valve is pulmonary circulation. controls the flow of blood out the heart via pulmonary arteries to lungs.
is the pulmonary arteries pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
pulmonary arteries is pulmonary circulation. arteries that provides the lungs blood supply
is the pulmonary veins pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
pulmonary veins is systemic circulation. takes blood from the lungs back to the heart.
is the mitral valve pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
mitral valve is pulmonary circulation. is pulled by the chordae tendinea to keep blood from flowing backwards and allowing it to pass.
is the aorta pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
aorta is pulmonary circulation. branches in the aorta supply blood to the organs.
is the aortic valve pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
aortic valve is systemic circulation. it controls the flow of blood out of the heart and to the whole body.
is the septum pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
septum is pulmonary circulation. it separates the left ventricle from the right ventricle.
is the myocardium pulmonary or systemic circulation? what is its function?
myocardium is pulmonary circulation. has layers of cardiac muscle that will contract itself
what is the main 3 functions of the circulatory system?
carries oxygen throughout body
transports nutrients to cells
removes wastes from cells
what is the role of arteries?
its function is to transport blood away from the heart to the organs and tissue in the body
what is the role of veins?
its function is to return blood from the body tissues to the heart.
what is the role of capillaries
allows material and gas exchange between the body cells and blood
what is the difference of systemic circulation and pulmonary circulation?
Pulmonary circulation moves deoxygenated blood between the heart and the lungs. systemic circulation is oxygenated blood flowing from the heart to the body.
what is systolic pressure?
systolic is used to measure blood pressure. measures the pressure in arteries when your heartbeats.
what is diastolic pressure?
diastolic is used to measure blood pressure. measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart rests between beats.
what is the vein that carries oxygenated blood in the body?
it is the pulmonary vein that carries oxygenated blood
what would happen to the heart muscles if blood supply was cut off?
muscle cells of the heart begin to die and irreversible damage begins 30 minutes of blockage.
