What is a citation?

A

Citations are mentions of your businesses NAP info on other websites. Third party backups of your business info that help prove to Google’s algorithm that you’re a local business at your location.

A

Directory listings - Nap info listed in a structured format

Unstructured citations - Nap info listed in long form content like press releases or blog content.

How important is it to have citations?

A

Not very. Citations just allow you a spot as a competitor but it doesn’t have any weight on your performance on the web.
It’s like buying in on a hand of poker. It’s just meant to allow you to play and show up. nothing more.

Why are citations important?

A

They’re more important for showing up in the Map pack. If you don’t have your citations set up correctly then it becomes difficult to show up in map pack results.

A
