Classes 5+6 Flashcards
(9 cards)
CO open, I call Q3ss from BB,
Flop Qh4sJh, X,B33,C
Turn Ks,X,B50,C
River Tc, pot is 18.3BB,300BB effective behind.
What should I do here and why? What’s the concept?
I should bluff here, my hand is almost never good (KJ,KQ,KT,QT etc), I can lead river.
I can make K5/K8, KT to fold, I can prevent him from getting bluffed.
Bet 10BBs.
Concept: Donking river as a bluff when the river card drastically changes the nuts. Flush/straight completing, or second pair pairs.
UTG opens to 2.5BB, BU flats, I have QdQc in the small blind and 3-bet to 13BB, they both call, pot is 40BB.
Flop comes 8s4c3s, what should I do?
My hand is vulnerable, I don’t want to give KThh/ATdd a free chance to outdraw me.
Bet 12.5BB, UTG calls, BU shoves.

Flop comes 8s4c3s,
I Bet 12.5BB, UTG calls, BU shoves.
What should I do?
BU double flatted vs UTG and vs my 3-bet, so he has all the pocket pairs, and AJ/AT/AQs. Against that range, I have about 24% equity, and I need more than 30% equity to be breakeven on this call.
Fold.
PSP: With no information we need to call, he could be protect-jamming with 99-JJ, as well as flush draws and sets.
In game: BU jammed with 33, UTG had AA.

What can happen to me mentally, and what is the concept?
I can doubt myself and tell myself that it’s obvious someone had a set…
I should always break down their ranges objectively and ask, was my play good or bad. Never get skewed by the results or showdown. Yes,adjust to some players based on showdowns but don’t doubt myself subjectively.
Concept: Be strong mentally by always being objective.
I open AJhh from HJ,CO calls.
Flop comes KsKd6d, I c-bet 1.3BB into 5.4BB, he min-clicks to 2.6BB.
What should I do and why?
I wonder if he ever does it with a nutted hand like 66/Kx. He can have a lot of backdoors, pocket pairs, air. PSP:he’s uncapped
I call.
I open AJhh from HJ,CO calls.
Flop comes KsKd6d, I c-bet 1.3BB into 5.4BB, he min-clicks to 2.6BB,I call.
Pot is 10.5BB.
Turn 2c, I check, he quickly checks back.
River 4s. I check and he bets 5BB into 10.5BB. What should I do, and why did I not donk the river as a bluff?
He didn’t even think about betting the turn. His range is:
-Pocket pairs
-Air
PSP didn’t donk the river himself, because his opponent can easily put him on a flushdraw and call with his condensed range.
I can call vs his air region,
or i can x/r 20BB vs his pps/underpairs/ A6s/65s etc.
Since his range is very capped, he’s very subjectiable to a large raise.
Why is it more effective to X/R river in those spots vs a human than vs a solver?
- A human will project their own range onto me, very few humans have a significant X/R bluff range in these spots, so they will put me on the value range
- They will have thoughts like, “If he had a bluff, why wouldn’t he lead river himself” - again, putting me on my value range.
What are the reasons to X/R?
He capped himself on the turn, instead of x/c with some bluffcatcher it’s more profitable to go for the x/r where they massively overfold.
Board is Qh6hQs2d
as sb vs bb i range bet flop, BB called.
pot is 8BB
Discuss how I break my range into hands that bet or call and why
When I bet, I want villian to have hands that call, for example here A high can and should call, and when I check, I want him to have hands that bluff.
Therefore, if I have AQ I should check, since I block his calling range and unblock his bluffs. When I have QT I should bet, as I block his bluffs (T) and unblock his calls (A highs).
Similarly and for the same reasons, AA can trap.
66/QQ can still trap.
