16
Q

What are the 5 groups/kingdoms used in the five kingdom method?

A
  1. Bacteria
  2. Single celled organism
  3. Plants
  4. Fungi
  5. Animals
17
Q

What is the 5 kingdom methond

A

This uses the morphological(physical) characteristics of the organism.

18
Q

What are the 3 groups used to classify organisms within the three domain classification?

A
  1. Ancient bacteria
  2. Bacteria
  3. Organisms with a nucleus.
19
Q

What is the 3 domain system?

A

This method is used to classify DNA analysis into 3 domains. DNA analysis allows organisms to be more closely classified based on similarities in their DNA and genetics.

20
Q

What system did Carolus Linnaeus create to group and name organisms?

A

Kingdom (biggest group)
Phylum
Class
Order
Family
Genus
Species (Smallest group)

21
Q

What was the Carolus Linnaeus method for grouping/classifying?

A

Similar species were grouped into genus, plural genera.
Similar genera formed a class.
Similar classes made a kingdom.
This is still the basis scientists used today although there are some extra groups such as families and phylum.
