Q

What does the genetic profiling process involve?

A

Involves cutting the DNA into short pieces which are then separated into bands. The pattern of the bands produced can be compared to show the similarity between two DNA samples.

Q

Name two ethical issues with Genetic profiling?

A
  • DNA samples of innocent people can be kept on police records - some believe this is against human rights and raise question of ownership of DNA.
  • Individuals can discover they are more likely to develop a disease, but this is not 100% certain therefore can lead to unwanted stress for the individual.
