Climbing And Descending Flashcards
(3 cards)
From the hover, describe how a steady state climb is achieved.
Collective is raised. AoA increases.
TRT increases and the aircraft climbs.
The Rate of Clomb flow adds to the induced flow. Rescues the AoA and TRT.
Describe how a steady state descent occurs.
Lever is lowered. AoA is decrease.
TRT decreased. Aircraft descends.
New Rate of Descent flow reduced the Induced flow.
Increased AoA and TRT.
Why does a torque spike occur in turns?
Due to flapping to a quality, the advancing blade has a reduced angle of attack than the retreating blade.
If a turn to the left is initiated with left cyclic the angle of attack will be increased on the advancing side and decreased on the retreating side by the same amount.
The advancing side experiences a greater increase in the angle of attack, then the decrease on the retreating side.
Overall, there’s a transient 25% increase in total drag the fuel computer automatically compensate with increased torque.
