A

Fact: Frida Kahlo uses a wide range of colours

Evidence: Shown through the pale pink on the dress, bright red orange yellow on the Sun and moon, green natural colours on the plants and neutral colours/ tones of the buildings

Effect: This creates a diverse colour palette with a wide range of colours allowing the eye to move across the painting

Fact: Frida Kahlo uses desaturated colours

Evidence: Shown on the building on the right hand side of the painting, and on the temple stairs on the left-hand side of the painting, along with the cloudy grey sky

Effect: This creates a more dull and depressing mood and atmosphere

Fact: The painting has complimentary colours

Evidence: This is shown as the Sun is bright orange next to the dull, blue grey sky. The Mexican flag has a red and green stripe, and there are many plants with green stems leaves and red flowers

Effect: This allows elements of the painting to stand out and appear more bold due to the contrast between the colours
