Unilateral Throbbing headache, 4-72hr duration. Visual/audio disturbances?
Migraine.
Bilateral frontal headache, short duration + no associated symptoms. Responds to pain relief?
Tension Headache.
Neck Stiffness, Photophobia + Headache. Possible purpuric rash?
Meningitis.
Intermittent headache around eye, 15min-3hr. Red eye, agitation/loss of concentration?
Cluster Headache.
Posterior headache, very severe: ‘Thunderclap.’
Neck Stiffness, neurological deficit in the eyes/ elsewhere reported?
Subarachnoid Haemorrhage.
Unilateral temporal headache, tenderness on scalp/temporal artery. Sudden loss of vision?
Temporal Arteritis.
Unilateral headache. Worse on bending forwards + in the mornings. Peripheral neurological deficit + loss of consciousness?
Tumour/Space Occupying Lesion.
Seizure, loss of consciousness + post-ictal confusion.
No other signs?
Complex focal seizure.
Seizure, loss of consciousness + post-ictal confusion.
Stiffness and/or jerking movements?
Tonic-clonic (generalized) seizure?
