This occurs when we conform to be liked or accepted by others. We are motivated by the desire to belong to a group.
Normative Social Influence
This happens when we conform because we believe others have more accurate information, especially in ambiguous situations.
Informational Social Influence
This happens when we conform to a group because we value it and want to be part of it. We may not necessarily agree with everything the group does, but we identify with the group’s values
Identification
Research shows that as the size of the group increases, the pressure to conform also increases. A small group may have less influence, but a large group may exert stronger social pressure.
Group Size
If everyone in a group agrees, the likelihood of conformity increases. However, if even one person disagrees, it can reduce the pressure to conform.
Unanimity of the Group
The more connected you feel to a group, the more likely you are to conform to its norms

People are more likely to conform to individuals they perceive as having higher status or expertise in the grou

Experiment demonstrated that people often conform to group pressure, even when the group is clearly wrong.
