Take the last pill even if it means taking two pills in one day and then continue taking pills daily, one each day.
If 2 or more COCP pills are missed during the first week of a ladies cycle (Day 1-7) what should the patient do regarding emergency contraception?
Emergency contraception should be considered if she had unprotected sex in the pill free interval or anytime in week 1.
If 2 or more COCP pills are missed, should all the missed pills be taken once the patient realises?
No, take the last pill even if it means taking two within one day. Leave any earlier missed pills then continue taking pills everyday.
If 2 or more COCP pills are missed in week 2 of a ladies cycle (days 8-14) what should be done in regards to emergency contraception?
There is no need for emergency contraception as long as the patient had taken the pill for 7 continuous days the week prior (however still use condoms for 7 days alongside just to be safe)q
If a patient missed 2 or more COCP pills during week 3 of their menstrual cycle (days 15-21) what should be done?
She should finish the pills in her current pack and start a new pack the next day, thus omitting the pill free interval
In all cases of missing 2 or more COCP pills, does a women need to use condoms or abstain from sex?
Yes, condoms or abstaining should be done for 7 days alongside pill reintroduction.
Which cancers does the COCP reduce the risk of?
Ovarian and Endometrial
Which Cancers does the COCP increase the risk of?
Breast and cervical cancer
When should the COCP be started so as not to need additional contraception cover?
If started within first 5 days - if started at ANY other point in cycle then condoms 7 days additional cover.
What is a common side effect with the Progesterone only pill?
Irregular bleeding.

Can start it AT ANY TIME POSTPARTUM
How long should additional contraception be used in a postpartum women starting the POP after 21 days of giving birth?
For the first 2 days.
