What is the role of a Contract Administrator (CA) in a construction project?
-Managing the contract between the employer and the contractor once the contract is signed.
- Issuing instructions, certifying payments, assessing extensions of time, and ensuring that the contract terms are followed
How should a Contract Administrator act?
Impartially and fairly, even though they are appointed by the client.
What is practical completion?
-The works are complete except for minor defects that do not prevent the building from being used.
What is sectional completion?
- Allows different parts of the project to be completed and handed over at different times, each with its own completion date.
What is partial possession?
-The client takes possession of part of the works before overall completion, which can affect liability and insurance provisions.
