Contraction Flashcards

1
Q

What does ca2+ bind to in order to create a contraction?

A

Troponin C (TnC subunit)

Q

After an action potential the ca2+ must be removed from the cytosol. How is this done?

A

Most pumped back into SR (SERCA) -raised ca2+ stimulates the pumps

Some exits across the cell membrane - sarcolemmal ca2+atpase and na+/ca2+ exchanger
