What are the effects of secretin?

A

It relaxes LOS
In the stomach it inhibits gastric secretion and motility and slows gastric emptying
Stimulates pancreatic duct cells to secrete HCO3 and H2O
Augments the action of CCK-PZ in stimulating pancreatic enzyme secretion
Stimulates bile flow
Inhibits intestinal motility and contracts the ileocaecal sphincter

What are the effects of cholecystokinin pancreozymin?

A

Stimulates pancreatic acini to secrete the enzymes and augments the stimulation of HCO3 and H2O secretion by secretin
Contracts the gall bladder, relaxes the sphincter causing discharge of bile into the intestine
Decreases gastric secretion and it contracts the pylorus, slowing gastric emptying
Antagonizes the action of gastrin at LOS and thus relaxes it
Stimulates intestinal motility
