Cranial nerve VI- Moves eye laterally, abducts eye towards ear.
Facial
Cranial nerve VII- Muscles of facial expression, taste anterior portion 2/3 of tongue, tear and salivary ducts, stapedius muscle (dampens loud noises by adjusting stapedius bone)
Vestibulocochlear
Cranial nerve VIII- Balance and hearing
Glossopharyngeal
Cranial Nerve IX- taste posterior portion 1/3 of tongue, sensation to pharynx
Vagus
Cranial nerve X- coughing and swallowing. Sensation from skin and chemo. receptors in aorta. Motor innervation and sensation to/from throat, tongue, larynx, tensor
veli palatini, abdominal organs.
Accessory
Cranial Nerve XI- Motor supply to sternocleidomastoid m. and
trapezius m. (turn head and shrug shoulders)
Hypoglossal
Cranial Nerve XII-Motor innervation of the tongue muscles
