punishment as a form of justice (retribution). the Quran allows for qisas in serious crimes like murder but also encourages forgiveness.
some Muslims believe that criminals should be punished according to the Quran. The shari’ah law for example suggest that people who steal should have one of their hands cut off.
Since Allah is merciful some think that criminals should be treated with mercy. ‘To forego is closer to righteousness’

One reason why justice is important to muslims is because it is a direct command from Allah.

Criminals should be judged according to the law this ensure that no-one is tried without sufficient reliable evidence.
punishment must include that humans rights are protected. for example the Quran instructs muslims to give food to the captives.

it brings justice to the victim or family of the victim. the Quran forbids taking innocent life. capital punishment can be used to uphold the law.

crime is against the will of Allah. “Allah orders justice and good conduct and forbids immorality, bad conduct and oppression”. So muslims obey the law of the land to reflect a positive image of Islam.
Allah will judge people on the day of resurrection. he uses their actions towards each other as a means of testing them as a result they should not engage in criminal behaviour but treat everyone fairly and justly.

the ultimate reward for good behaviour is an eternity in paradise. Allah judges all muslims based on their good and bad actions
muslims believe the reward for good deeds is based on the intentions of the person performing them. good intentions mean that Allah will act with mercy in the afterlife.

the Quran instructs to give food “to the needy, the orphan and the captive”. So punishment must ensure that human rights are protected. this is seen as an act of charity.
criminals should be judged according to the law. this ensure that people are tired with sufficient reliable evidence.

Allah does not promise that believing in him guarantee an easy life. suffering is a part of test of life but muslims will be rewarded for patient endurance.
those who ignore Allah may use their free will to cause suffering.everyone is guided to know Allah but not everyone chooses to accept the guidance
