Jerusalem was conquered by the Jews and Muslims at the time. The Christian wanted the holy to be a safe place and safe journey to the holy land. Then wanted this because this was the place where Jesus was born and buried, people could travel there to wash away their sins.
They came up with the idea of a crusade a fighter that goes to Jerusalem to claim the pope encouraged anyone to fight for the crusades by saying if you die in battle your sins will be washed away and you can get a lot of money and land.

Third Crusade

A

This crusade was led by Richard I of England and Phillip II of France. However, they weaker on the way to Jerusalem due to some minor conflict with other Europeans, this made their armies weak, and they didn’t have any support. They couldn’t get hold of Jerusalem because their army was extremely small and Saladin got back up from Egypt, Mesopotamia and Syria.

Children’s Crusade

A

The Children’s Crusade had two principals: Stephen, from Cloyes (in France) and Nicholas of Conlogue (in Germany). It began in 1212 with many volunteering to reclaim Jerusalem after they believed they had received a message from God. Importantly, this was not an “official” crusade because the pope at the time never requested it. The outcome was, they either died on the journey or they got sold to be slaves near and at Egypt.
